Java Update 3 increases memory usage on some pages. This can lead to errors such as "Runtime Envoriment Failed To Load" and "Multiple Occurrences of Jave are running".

Many technical resources suggest that the solution to this problem is to uninstall/re-install Java. We have found that this DOES NOT resolve the problem.

Here is the solution:

Set Virtual Memory to Syteme Managed size.

Instructions for Windows XP:

  1. Click Start
  2. Right-click My Computer
  3. Click Properties
  4. Click the Advanced Tab
  5. Click the Settings button in the Performance box
  6. Click the Advanced Tab
  7. Click the Change button in the Virtual Memory box
  8. Choose System Managed Size in the Paging file size for selected drive box
  9. Click the Set button
  10. Click OK | OK | OK

You man be asked to reboot your computer.
